#0 What’s Your ‘WHY’?

WHY is very important! If you don’t have a WHY, how will you succeed?! What is your WHY?

I started thinking about my WHY.
WHY was I embarking on this journey and what are 10 reasons why. As I started to write my reasons why I realised they weren’t particularly positive. The first 10 are the neutral/negative statements. The second 10 are the same statements, only with a more positive spin.
The neutral/negative statement:
1. I’m done with being the fat friend.
2. I’ve had enough of hating myself when I look in the mirror.
3. I’m not going to look at my body in disgust anymore.
4. I’m fed up of feeling like a failure trying to lose weight.
5. I can’t keeping having this bad relationship with food and feel guilty for eating.
6. No more excuses, not this time.
7. I need to believe in myself.
8. I’m going on holiday and want to be able to wear a bikini with confidence.
9. I want to feel happy in my own skin again
10. I want to drop a dress size (or two).

Now for the same statements in a more positive version:
1. I am going to slim down and stop thinking of myself as the fat friend, my friends don’t think that of me and nor should I.
2. I am going to look in the mirror and say/think something nice. If I can’t say/think anything nice I will not say anything at all. I wouldn’t criticise my friends so I won’t do it to myself.
3. Im not going to blame my body anymore, I am going to start looking after my body.
4. Weight loss is hard, if it were easy we wouldn’t be overweight as a nation. It’s not our fault, everywhere we go we are surrounded by food. I am not a failure, I am just submersed in a world which is obsessed with food.
5. I have opened my eyes to the hedonic hunger and I will do my best to stay in control. I am in the zone, I am going to reset how I feel about food whilst instilling healthy habits.
6. Excuses are weaknesses. I’m not weak, I’m not going to allow myself to make excuses.
7. I have a plan, the plan works, I’m following the plan so I know I will be successful. All I have to to is follow the plan.
8. I can picture myself looking and feeling confident in a bikini and I know what I need to do to get there.
9. I will stop being judgemental and critical of myself all the time, I will start to love myself.
10. Following the plan will allow me to drop a dress size.
